When six runners decided to finish seven full marathons in seven continents on seven consecutive days in January 2015, Seif El Bakry knew he needed to partake, both as a passionate sports enthusiast and as an Egyptian. With the aid of a group of volunteers, he worked tirelessly to organize the marathon for the Africa leg and succeeded in grabbing the attention of avid runners around the globe.

After organizing the marathon and seeing the potential of sports events in Egypt, El Bakry decided to take his love of running to the next level, and thus Marathon Cairo was born. With an objective to unite runners and follow in the footsteps of the most distinguished marathons in the world, Marathon Cairo successfully organized four annual marathons to date, in addition to a number of diverse sports events targeting the Egyptian community, such as Friday runs, charity runs, and I AM FIT challenges.

In 2020 and after the great response of the Egyptian market, Marathon Cairo became MC SPORT, an official company organizing sports events tailored to individuals and companies. The company aims to create a sustainable culture of fitness and healthy living that inspires current and future generations.
